Mónica leads our energy law division, possessing extensive experience in matters related to electricity markets (generation, transmission, and distribution) and their ongoing regulatory changes, as well as in fuel markets and general market regulation. Her work encompasses advisory services on preventative matters, ongoing consultancy, and litigation before the Panel of Experts and other administrative and jurisdictional venues. Additionally, Mónica has developed significant expertise in salmon farming and other areas of aquaculture.
Mónica holds a law degree from the University of Chile and an LL.M. in Regulatory Law from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. She has also completed three diplomas: one in Electrical Regulation from the Department of Electrical Engineering at the Faculty of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, one in Economic Administrative Law from the Centre for Regulation and Competition at the Faculty of Law, and one in Regulation and Competition from the Faculty of Economics and Business, all at the University of Chile. Furthermore, she has obtained a certification in executive skills development from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.
In her academic activities, she is a lecturer in the master’s program in Energy Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering of the Catholic University of Chile, served as Director of the Diploma in Litigation before the Panel of Experts at Adolfo Ibáñez University, and was a teaching assistant in Civil Law at the University of Chile.
Professionally, Mónica has practised as a lawyer at Pacific Hydro Chile, served as legal secretary to the Panel of Experts on Energy, and has held roles as Director of Regulatory Affairs and Compliance Officer at the Salmon Council. Prior to rejoining FN, where she had previously been an associate, she was a partner at RegLaw Abogados.
