Marcelo Armas is Counsel at FerradaNehme. He holds a law degree from Universidad de Chile and a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from the University of Chicago, and has more than 35 years of experience in banking and finance law, as well as in other areas of business law.

Marcelo spent much of his career at Philippi, Yrarrázaval, Pulido & Brunner (now Philippi Prietocarrizosa Ferrero DU & Uría), where he was a partner and headed the Banking and Finance practice for 25 years. In that role, he led complex financing transactions, including project finance, international bond offerings, aircraft and asset finance, and syndicated loans, among others. He also advised local and international banking institutions. From 2018 to 2020, he served as Co-Chair of Philippi Prietocarrizosa Ferrero DU & Uría, overseeing the firm's regional management in Chile, Peru, and Colombia. Earlier in his career, he worked as a foreign associate at Cravath, Swaine & Moore in New York.

For 12 consecutive years (2012–2023), he was ranked in Band 1 for Banking & Finance in Chile by Chambers and Partners. From 2023 to 2025, he served as Secretary General of Affinitas, an alliance of independent law firms from Chile, Colombia, Mexico, and Peru, where he was responsible for its global promotion and for coordinating work among its member firms.

He currently serves as a Director of Centro Nacional de la Familia (CENFA), a foundation that provides mental health care to people living in vulnerable circumstances.
